Well I picked up the bodywork yesteday and all I can say is WOW! My good friend Jeff (the one who gave me the 900) well his Father-in-Law paints cars and bikes professionally for living. So we had it worked out some time ago that he would handle the paint job. All I wanted ws a nice gloss black. Well apparently the FIL thought that was blase' and painted them a deep, deep midnight/ blue black with some green and blue metal flake. Even my lovely wife was impressed. I wish the pics could do the fairing justice, but here they are:

You can see how the tank looks dark in the shade.

And here are my ne-used forks from a fellow 900 board member. I need the anti-dive units off the front!

God willing, this weekend we will have it all together less the decals!

    Peace,

    BZ

    No Joey I don't.

My son isn't old enough to learn how to burn ants with one so I haven't bought one yet.

I'll wait till the 900 is together and post some pics taken in the sun with our better camera.

he he he, I was referring to how the pictures were really tiny but I see you fixed them. They look really nice and I'm anxious to see the final result of the bike all polished up!

    Wow. What a cool project.

A guy I worked with had a 900 Ninja. Bought it brand new. Yes, I am showing my age here... I was 19 or 20 at the time.

Joey Dunlop is my favorite racer of all time Kobe. A true Christian and God gifted rider that was humble. A trait most racers should take notice of IMO.

Joey helped people in need, helped other racers he was racing against that had mechanical issues! The guy just loved to race and ride bikes.

    After Joey, King Kenny.

Anothe racer I highly admire and respect because he would admit his own mistakes, another rare trait amongst racers.

You do not need to take it to a mechanic for a carb clean.

Just remove the float bowls and make sure the low speed or idle jets are clear.
You can see daylight through it,

Look at the float need TIP and make sure it is not torn and is not stuck in its bore by varnished gas.
Then look and the vacuum diaphrams (you do not need to remove them) just take the cover off and make sure there are no splits or tears in them, thats it . You are done. No need to tear the carbs all apart.

It would probably be easier to do all this by just removing the whole rack of carbs so it will be much easier and faster to do.
And DO NOT turn the carbs completely upside down!!! If there is gunk in the float bowls you will just end up dumping the gunk into the jets and float needles. Just gently lay them down on a cloth and tilt them enough to remove the float bowl screws.
