Rolling the enigine over=starting it up and making sure the engine is fine.

    Update:

Well the Ninja is at the mechanics (John) for the carb cleaning and roll over. John called me yesterday and stated that cylinder 2 & 3 are not getting spark. He switched coils, spark plug wires, ran an Ohms test on additional wiring and we came to the conclusion that the CDI Igniter may be the issue.

Of course this is an expensive ass part, but I was blessed and found one on Flea Bay for 40 bucks. So waiting for it to arrive then we’ll plug it in and see what’s what.

    IT'S ALIVE!!! BBBBWWWUUUUHAHAHAHAHA!

My mechnic John called me yesterday and the Ninja is running. Thing hasn't run in over two years and he said it didn't even smoke when it rolled over and came to life.

So I've been ordering parts this morning and when I get the Ninja back, pics will follow.

Well the Ninja came back from the mechanic and overall things went very well on his end.

The engine appears to run strong. John called me and said when it rolled over no smoke or nothing!

So now the Ninja has new fluids, new tires, fork seals, fork oil and a list of other items from the GPZ Store.

The only real bumps (yes plural) was the anti-dive units on the forks. They are so frozen he could not get them apart due to corrosion and that was after a soaking in PB Blaster! Gotta say, I’ve never seen anything beat the Blaster. He was starting to burn up quite a bit of time so he stopped, which I am grateful for. But that still leaves the issue of broken anti-dive units. Well I came home and jumped on ebay and a gentleman from the Ninja forum was selling his set. Can you say “Buy It Now’? LOL! So that is ironed out. The next issue was the sight glasses on the clutch and brake reservoirs started to leak!!! This didn’t start until a few days after getting the bike home. So I have a few dabs of JB Weld & Stick on the sight glasses (which you can see in the pics) and it seems to be holding, which is why I keep stuff like that around.

So the next step in the process is new paint for the 900! Here’s some pics of the beautiful Barney Purple this bike had been painted. Trust me the pics don’t do the horrific color justice.

Here are the two side panels prepped and ready.

    Here they are primed!

Here I am pulling the front fender off so I can get that ready for painting too!

I need to finish the priming because this Thursday is paint time! I am dropping the plastics off and my good friend’s father-in-law is spraying them a nice gloss black. If everything goes well, me and a few others who have assisted me with this project will be over to the house on Saturday and we’ll be installing a horn, new left hand switch gear, new speedo cable and putting the plastics on and firing this baby up!

    Till next time!

Betarace, you are keeping this thread on target LOL!

I need to do some suspension work before the NEEEENNNJAAAA! makes a debut at the track for a couple vintage laps.

The rear shock is toast and the forks need a few things. Nothing real expensive, just I don't think I'll get to it this year.

Right now I just want to get it on the street and putt around on it. Oh, I do plan on taking it to the drag strip this summer. We have one local and its 15 bucks to run it in the street class.

sure looks like it'd channel the water to the center of the tire as it rotates...
