Actually I originally thought it was caused by the top box. Found out different when I got the weaves without the top box and only the side cases.

Here's what I found: It's called Von Karman Vortex Shedding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaLiP5MO8cg

    and here's another https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...&mid=9598AADC954479C63B2C9598AADC954479C63B2C

Happens in fluid and air streams. I think by directing air , like a laminar lip shape on side cases, right in behind the bike the vortex will either stop or it will take a higher speed to create it. That's exactly what's happening. The bike starts to weave slowly from the back to front. Gets more intense the faster you go. At 125 it's manageable. Up around 135mph it gets really bad and is hard to control until the speed drops down below 125mph.

It will be interesting in testing my theory. Biggest thing is trying to find a road I can run at those speeds and not attract the leo's. I have a couple of friends that work for NASA in Cleveland. I wonder if they would let me use their wind tunnel...........................mmmmmmmmmmm

BMW's caution about this effect has been up for years. It only concerns the Krauser panniers. The actual shape of the Krausers has changed. Mine are the old style. Had it happen more than once at 85+mph.

Can't help ya with the NASA thing. "Mine" was Chamber A in Houston. Not much wind there or anything else. There could well be enough hot air here to get started..:)

My guess is that the industry is well aware of the potential problem and has fixed it with better aerodynamics. Not much help for those top cases. They are still ugly.

As a partial solution of the growing group of asshole/stuntas/and other lowlifes, maybe start a PR campaign aboot how cool it is to have hard bags at the ton.
