Black Hills - June 2016

No fucking thank you. LOL. I specifically chose this time of year to avoid all the BS along with most of the tourist traffic.

I'm there to ride, not to stare at T&A and stand shoulder to shoulder with Hardley Dudes walking around with beverages and weed.

 

hahahaha fair enough. it certainly isnt for everyone. but it sure was a hellofa thing to see. I was also there on work, so it made it less crazy.

the black hills are a really really beautiful place to ride. make sure to check out the town of Deadwood. It is super pretty and on a great road.

 

Sounds like I may need to make a stop at the Red Garter Saloon in Keystone.

 

Watch were you place your hands while you are there! Get me a garter too!

You ride safe now Jeff. People down there are known to put down road injured and keep the meat. If they don't cut you up for steaks, they feed you to the hawgs.

.... aaaand I'm off!

The bike was so excited in my parking lot at the office that she was already popping wheelies!!



I arrived in Minot, ND just after dark. I freestyled my route to avoid all the nasty thunderstorms. The clouds were blacker than a black steers tucus on a moonless night.

I had to punch through it at the tail end, maybe 5 mins of hard rain at the most. The rest was a little drizzle here and there

First thing I did was make sure I had some light and warmth...



Then I setup my tent and had dinner.



Then I chatted with the campground manager here at Roughrider for about an hour. His name is Paul, and he's originally from Alabama. He's got a lot of interesting stories and been through a lot of hardship.

Now, I'm just about to sleep ... and warm.

Anne Marie needs one of these for her tent!



Got word from the boys. They are somewhere in Iowa and can barely see the road in the rain. I may still beat them to camp.

Freshen up? No need Jeff. You are beautiful as you are. A< and I had lunch in the "culturally enhanced" area of Vancouver yesterday and all the guys were telling us this same thing. Ride safe brudda

 

In Bowman, ND now for fuel and a little rest.

The wind is unreal!! VFR is holding a line and no sway in the crosswinds like a boss. Wish the same could be said for me! Haha

Bowman. I remember that place. That's where I ended up when I got lost on my 2014 tour after R3. Remember massive electrical storm most of the way there from Ft. Collins to there. Dodged a huge funnel cloud on the way. I didn't see it but heard it was on the ground on the news next morning.
