Any more ideas. I cleaned out the exhaust the best I could and it st dies. I rev it high to get going now and it also back fires with a flame coming out both exhaust. I'm getting to a point of frustration now. Could itbea stuck valve or several? Maybe stuck piston rings? It wl idle just great and revsokay as well. It does hang just a bit after its revved but just barely. But as soon as you let the clutch outta go it just dies but then will start right back up. Never had one do this before. I bet a Honda wouldn't do this.

If the bike has a center stand or if you have a rear stand try running it while on the stand. Make sure the bike goes in & out of ALL 6 gears. If you had a stuck valve or several I doubt the bike would run. If it did it would be misfiring badly or you would have possibly one or two dead cylinders. Anything mechanical with engine would make noise. I am by no means an expert on carbs but it sounds like a fuel delivery issue.

Thanks. I tried that on the center stand and it shifts perfectly throughout all the gears spinning the rear wheel. I even tried applying the rear brake while it's in gear to put a load onthe motor to see if I could stall it out and it won't stall. It only stalls when it's trying to pull its weight and me on it. I thought maybe a safety switch is causing it like with my vfr and the kickstand. But this bike doesn't have that.and it dies when you are letting the clutch out not when you put it in gear. I have gone over all the fuel related components with a fine tooth comb. I made sure the gas tank was cleaned out install all three new fuel filters new air filter new plugs flushed out the fuel pump you name it it's either new or cleaned up like new. Like I said it runs great and when I first started it as soon as it got gas to the carbs it fired right up and continued to run good. It is just with its own weight???? Thanks for the idea and I will try to figure out how the fuel delivery may be causing it. Because at this point I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks again

I was mistaken it does have a sidestand switch a clutch switch and a neutral sensor. So. fter work I will give those all a look but I have still never heard of one killing the motor when you release the clutch? But it is a Kawasaki. If anyone has any other ideas sure will welcome all. Thanks

It should be pretty easy to bypass the sidestand switch. Most are simply two terminals. Just disconnect it & install a temporary jumper wire on the harness connectors.

I sure feel dumb. That's all it was. The sidestand switch was sticking causing it to d ie upon releasing the clutch. Unlike a Honda that will die as soon as you put it in gear with the sidestand down. Oh well live and learn. I took it for a test ride and everything is just fine. I thought before riding it I would like all that power but I think it would just get me in trouble. I whacked the throttle open in second gear and all I got was the rear tire spinning. If I owned something like that I would be lighting up the tire out of all the corners. To think I complain about going through tires now. He'll I would be lucky to get 500 miles out of a tire with something like that. No I'm very happy with my vfr. Thanks again for everyone's help

I know its late in the riding season but take the ZX for along ride if you can. Especially on the highway for extended periods of time. No I'm not talking about blowing triple digit speeds. Just cruise around 75-80 mph. You'll be amazed at how effortless it is on that bike. Even with a passenger it will never seem like the bike is working hard.

I wouldn't mind doing a long ride on itas it is very smooth but it is not my bike I was just doing the work on it for someone.
