I am firm believer in running regular if knocking is not an issue but after being frustrated with relatively low RPM notchy fueling I tried a tank of premium and big difference; bike behaves like it should in lower RPMs and I can maintain 3-4k rpm comfortably now. Manual says regular should be fine and I don't think knocking is an issue (bike ran fine 4k plus) but I am much happier with performance on premium in low RPM range. mine is 6th gen 2008...

Filled up my tank with blended 87 when I first got the bike in August 2006 brand new. That was 190.000 km ago. Have used the same fuel ever since in this bike. I don't think I need to consider a change at this time unless it starts to knock. Then it will probably be piston slap and not det.
