Are black riding jackets appreciably hotter than lighter colors when riding in the summer?

    It's a gift.

Sorry your spin fell short of facts.

Should we now discuss that black is "much hotter" than other colors or is "much" a quantifiable measure in your club..?

How much hotter is a black car than a white car in the sun?

We can see that the painted surfaces of the car did indeed vary by a large amount between the white and black cars. The difference between the average black and average white cars is: 144.85- 90.25 = 54.6 degrees. This is about ten times what the glass variation was.

Oh Shucks. One of my cars is green and the other is silver. Both have AC.

So are your black Tshirts perfed? Was the actual measurement done with an axilary or rectal temp probe. Those damned meat thermometers are sharp and really hurt.

Great gaggles of Google. IMO, you should have done before posting BS about NESBA being your club.

I may have to resort to the wonders of wiki just to keep up.

+1. Black is only hotter when you put a foot down in an intersection...

I wear the black Icon TiMax 2 jacket and I have sworn that I will never ever buy black gear again. Not only for the jacket but the pants and the helmet as well. If I've got full gear on and the temps start nearing the 90's, I pull over and start stripping gear off. Otherwise I start risking dehydration as I sweat profusely. I wen't with black because it goes with damn near anything regardless of the bike color and it is much easier to keep looking clean over white. I think my next gear refresh will be whitei.

Black is hotter. Even in mesh. If you are not rockin it or aren stop and go, grey would be better than black and so on.
