Hey all, I know this is probably the absolute worst location to post this but figured any input is better than none. This is mostly out of spite to the reddit automod that deleted his exact post on multiple subreddits. No idea really why, but I digress. May I present to you, the VFRWorld community:

The thing that primarily gets me with smartphones is the visual stimulation. I don't really text as much as most of my peers, so most of what I do on a phone is visual. So, I decided I probably should cut the tiny little screen out of the picture somehow. So I decided to try the dumphone route for a while, bought a feature phone and lived with it for a little bit. But I learned that I still need a smartphone, or at least the functionality of a smartphone. So I started working with what I have:
    • A laptop (Framework 12)
    • Old smartphone as a hotspot
    • A pair of glasses with displays in them (XREAL xbx a01, but any will do)
    • Headphones for calling (just some old IEMs I had laying around.
    • And a Bluetooth keyboard for nav and typing things out, but I plan on figuring out a better solution
It's a bit of a janky mess, but I essentially made a simple version of the Playstation 3/PSP menu as a launcher and some UI tweaks to make sure the screen doesn't completely block the vision when apps are running on the HUD. It's not currently working that great, but I'll post pictures of it all when I've got it a little more squared away. I have my phone and texts going through a SIP company's service, and I haven't run into many issues. I still need to figure out something like a smart watch or a wristband that transmits NFC, that or just carry my wallet more often. Haven't really used it much while riding my bike

The main intent of posting this here is to just feel out the idea with as many eyes on it as possible. I've got some vague ideas on how I would solve some of the problems with the thing as it sits right now, and I would want to publish my work as an open-source project at some point. I just don't have it all in a super clean state right now.

TL;DR I think smartphones are cool but they make me waste time, so I came up with a replacement for them and want to hear your thoughts about it.
