I think maybe the Ducati and Honda just developed faster this year. at least we will have some interesting reading between seasons.

That was weird. In my previous post I had started a remark about MV and then decided to type something different but then it reappeared above the quoted post!

Anyway, here's something to discuss. JL claims that he did see the suggested mapping message appear on his dash board and the pit board that said to drop 1 position i.e. Let Dovi in front but felt he was actually the faster rider between he and Dovi and that he was actually helping Dovi by giving him a tow.

Dall'Inga said the messages were just a suggestion and that it is up to the riders to determine who is actually the faster rider and have the slower rider yield to them. And that it was possible that the teams did not have the best view point of what was actually happening on the track. From what I saw, JL did seem to have a better pace in some sectors but it also seemed like both Ducati riders were running the same pace overall. Not a huge JL fan but I didn't think he was holding up Dovi. What's your take? Was he out for personal glory or was he actually helping Dovi?

Rossi had a biggie with a 2016 framed bike, they had to get spares from Tech 3!

My take is that by the time they started giving team orders, it was too late anyway. Dovi seemed to be held up a bit, and I mean a little bit early, but then JL started pacing well and I don't think Dovi could have passed him after that. If JL had let him by early, and Dovi could have made some progress, I don't think he'd have really threatened, but, if he could have started making progress, would MM have tried something even more crazy than he did? And if so, might he have crashed? And if so, then what?

Wouldn't matter in the end as far as I could tell, cause Pedrosa and Zarco both had better pace, so in all likely hood, even if that dream had come true (above), and Dovi could have kept it on the track, he still would have likely finished third, in a super-duper best case scenario, and even with MM out, it wouldn't have made any difference in the end.

Unless MM's crazy move took out (or dropped back) Pedro and Zarco???

Either way, it would've been more fun to watch... And would have killed all the "what ifs"...

And in the end, JL didn't make any friends. He already has a public opinion issue, and while he may not care, his approach sure didn't help...

Who care's, it's over and they wouldn't have won the championship anyway. Maybe next year, or maybe Stoner will have a kid.

Dovi is covering JLs ass, he's saying Lorenzo was right to disobey orders, that JL did help him get a faster rhythm and realise if he couldn't pass a Ducati he couldn't pass a Honda never mind 2 and Zarco

    So that's that settled

I wonder what Ducati thinks of him ignoring 6 attempts to tell him to let Dovi pass...........

Yamaha better put Zarco in a factory seat in 2019. I like how the opinions of riding styles seems to have changed in only a couple years...It's gone from Jorge needing everybody to stay away at least 2', to the Moto2 guys coming up and swapping paint and rubber. It has changed the sport for the better.

Reports are that talks with Zarco are already "far down the road" on contract talks for him joining KTM as their #1 rider in 2019. The article said that Yamaha wouldn't have a seat. That's why I said earlier, looking forward to seeing Zarco on a KTM in 2019.
