They don't. It's too bad. For Honda, they seem quite happy to waste their engineering might on 750cc ADV scooteers. If it can't be easily manufactured in India, it isn't gonna happen.

When did they stop using the Honda motor? I just watched a video on MotoGP where they were showing how the Moto2 engines were serviced and these were Honda motors.

I thought Honda had the contract to 2018. They are running them this year for sure.

 

After this season, I read that its being replaced. Also heard there discontinuing the 600rr production.

I know that they were discussing not further developing the CBR600RR in Europe due to stricter emission standards (So far no mention of that in the states), but didn't hear about them quitting Moto2. Do you have a link? Did they say who is going to replace them? KTM perhaps?

 

IN this thread I started, http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthread.php/51489-2018-Honda-VFR-1000R it talks about Honda possibly making a 2018 VF1000R for homologation for WSBK. If so, could we also be looking at a possible V4 for the CBR down the road, in like 2030? [/sarcasm] I'm actually surprised to see that Honda remembers that they are also a performance bike company. No that the 2017 CBR looks to be cutting any edges...

 

No VF1000R coming from Honda. It has been put back to research and development with no schedule for ever even producing one. Euro 4 emissions are proving to be a deciding factor for a lot of manufacturers.

 

Honda has a current contract with the FIM to supply engines to Moto2 through 2018. The FIM has opened consultation with manufacturers to supply engines from 2019 on.

 

I agree....time to look seriously at other makes now.....I'll be in a retirement home and they will still be researching and developing.....

Damn! That is funny because of the truth in it.

 

This only applies to practice bikes.

 

If you are referring to this bit..."Testing is now more limited. Moto2 and Moto3 riders are limited to ten days of private testing each year. They are also only allowed to test using standard road bikes of their own capacity. In addition, Moto2 riders are not allowed to use a Honda CBR600RR for practice, as that is the official engine used in Moto2." This is essentially saying that the CBR600RR cannot be used for practicing because this is the same engine that they race with.

 

...I knew better...and still did it....

 

Yeah practice, I was pretty sure they were still on the Honda motor through 2018.
