CLASSIC TT 2016 - 250 TWO STROKES ARE BACK

    This press release just issued

"GP-spec 250s last raced on the Mountain as part of TT meeting in 2004 but the new Lightweight race will provide fans with the chance to see the rapid two-strokes duelling once more. Legends such as John McGuinness and Bruce Anstey cut their teeth on the nimble but fickle ‘strokers’ and both took their first wins in the class. Indeed, John still retains the class lap record (118.29mph) and even brought the bike on which he won the 1999 Lightweight TT to this year’s event.

Although the entry list for the inaugural Lightweight Classic TT is not finalised there are some very exciting names on the provisional list, and the interest from riders and owners has been massive (as you’d expect from such a popular class)."

Looks like there's going to be a blue haze around the Island this year

MotoGP Assen 2016 all I can say is wow, it was messy race due to bad weather and there's no doubting the 1000/1 winner was extremely lucky but he also deserved it given the terrible conditions and the way he was riding coming from near the rear of the grid to win on a non factory bike.

Right?! The big question is did you place your bet? 1000:1 would have been a quite a winning to bring home.

Have to hand it to MM, he sure is showing he has more than the one speed. Yes, he's still on the edge but has shown he knows that taking points toward the championship is MUCH better than losing it all in a wreck less moment. Maybe MM squaured (More Mature Marc Marquez) is going to make it through the year without crashing his way through it.

I'm sure all you Aussies are celebrating! Congrats! First non-factory bike win since 2006 they said.

A win is a win and will always be in the books, we have a ice speed skater who is an Olympic gold medalist because all the other skaters crashed out

The win wasn't the biggest thing, it really had nothing to do with the championship....the biggest thing was the visit to the gravel by a championship contender...the collective sigh was heard a long way from Assen.

Rossi laying his head on his tank said it all. That crash probably was his last chance. Not sure if MM's extreme celebrating was taking 2nd or for Rossi crashing out. lol

Moto 3 was INSANE as usual. 5 crazy Italians side by side going into the chicane....... lap after lap. Nuts.

Anyone with a paperless subscription to Motorcycle News in the UK can read an in depth test of the RCV213 that Bruce Anstey rode in the TT, plus several photos of details on the bike and a side view with the fairing removed...I tried scanning them but they don't come out legible

There's also a write up of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, lots of pics of old strokers fired up and ready to race:beguiled:

    Anyone watch the races?!
I watched wsbk super bikes and have everything else on the dvr to watch this week. Chaz and Derosa had some high speed get offs. Rea has now left the door open a little with his 2nd race mistake.

Does anyone know if WSBK Super Sport division races 2 fewer races a year? I was told that they do not race Laguna, just the Super bikes. MotoAmerica filled in the rest of the racing.

They don't come to Laguna....Not enough garage space and the cost was deemed prohibitive...they race the other 12 rounds.

JR may have run wide...but it might have been a mechanical and that is what ultimately led to his retirement from race 2. He would have easily made it back into the top 6, as he came back on track in 10th. He will rebound, clearly the class of the field.

I was reading that today. Makes more sense now. I knew when he went off track he was hauling ass through pea rock and all sorts of crap. He did really well not eating it. I too think he is in the same zone he was last year. He will probably still win by a fair amount of points.

He is easily the fastest rider, and on the fastest machine. I don't see any problems for him snagging his second title. WSBK is starting to look a lot like MotoGP.....
