    TT 2016

Monday evening first practice session for the Superbikes results

    1 4 Ian Hutchinson BMW/Tyco BMW 4 17:25.117 129.964
    2 6 Michael Dunlop BMW/Hawk Racing 4 17:27.491 129.670
    3 1 John McGuinness Honda/Honda Racing 2 17:33.987 128.871
    4 10 Conor Cummins Honda/Honda Racing 3 17:47.488 127.241
    5 2 Bruce Anstey Honda/Valvoline Racing by Padgetts Motorcycles 3 17:48.916 127.071

Bruce Anstey was taking it easy on the rcv213 after doing a lap on the Fireblade, altogether very pleased with it and intending to go quicker next session

He'll have his work cut out, both Michael Dunlop and Hutchy have already raced and won on their bikes this year at the NW200 and other meetings

If you can still compete and especially still win why not keep on racing? Paid big money to ride?! Age is very subjective. I know 20 somethings that are already old and over the hill.

Cam did well in race 2, 10th is very good for a first timer. He was running 6th for a while. Rea had 5 false neutrals?! And then the worst one was after he had passed Tom.

The Suter is a lowly 57th, with a 19m29.4s lap, at just over 116, with Ian Lougher riding it, Ian has a lot of TT experience so it's in good hands

If Bruce can even be close to Hutch and Dunlop that would be almost as good as a win.

Yes, but Ian is not one of the top 10-15 riders; it would be interesting to see what could be done in Cummins or Anstey's hands...

Ian is very experienced and competent rider, particularly on highly strung 2 strokes, if it was capable he'd put in the top 15, the reason he's got it is is not competitive, Cummins has a HRC Fireblade and Bruce has the RCV213, the Suter just doesn't cut it at the TT ....maybe short circuit racing but TBH I don't think that it has the power to keep up with 220+bhp Superbikes

On board with John McGuiness during this weeks practice

The HP to weight ratio on the Stuter is very competitive, 195/278lbs but I think it may not be applying the power to the road the same way as the 4 strokes and that is the problem. Controlling that beast has to be a hand full.

Agreed the light weight may give a good power to weight ratio but is almost certainly not enough to provide adequate tyre adhesion, watching Hutchy lift the front wheel as he accelerates up the mountain brings home just how power is going through those wheels

The other thing is the gearing, you need fairly wide ratios to cope with the Island circuit, Suter may not have the gears right or the necessary sprockets to alter it and still keep the power down

I agree, lets see how they are doing by the end of the week with a little more experience. I want to hear a good sound clip of that thing hauling the mail. TZ 750 sounding?

This might be useful for anyone not able to access the racing through normal routes

"note that you can now download all of the international highlights shows via the iomtt.com website – priced at just £6.99 for all 10 international highlights programmes which start on Thursday- so you can now watch TT coverage wherever you are in the world."

    £6.99 is about $10

    The Suter on the Island

Can't find any other coverage yet

Sounds like a good bike there, good to hear Ian sound so happy with the bike, suspension set up is something he mentioned they were sorting, he's just the man to do that having raced them at the Island previously

Fuelling has always been a problem for 2 strokes, back in the 60's Yamaha struggled every day, there's 2,500 ft difference between the lowest and highest parts of the course, plus being an island with prevailing damp winds adds to the mix

Fuel injection on the 2 stroke should help immensely with the elevation problems.
