Sorry to hear about the bike, but glad you and your girl are ok. Walking away is always a win in the books. The bike looks fixable from the pics. Good luck.

Very good that you and your daughter fared better than the bike.

Sorry to hear of yet another VFR going down(yours went way down).

    Be careful out there folks.

Good thing your daughter was not seriously injured. You would have to think about that the rest of your life.
If you have a passenger aboard you need to ride much more conservatively.
That silt was over the white stripe too. Sorry but that is how I see it.

She's a sportbike rider wannabe and lives for speed. She rides pillion better then most ride their own bikes. And the silt starts over the white line, then runs a trail straight thru the corner and crosses the road... I was in the right wheel track, as I always am on left hand turns, leaving room for idiot cagers crossing the line; doesn't leave as much room to recover, but better that then head on or side swipe by a cager.

No offense taken though; save or no save, I was the rider, so it's totally my fault, regardless of the circumstances.

Thank you all for the good thoughts. I too am glad we came out as well as we did. I couldn't even be mad about the crash; the bike can be repaired/replaced (find out in the next couple days), so can the gear, my daughter and I cannot. As many of you have said.

Did break a bone in elbow, not sure about wrist, will see orthopedist tomorrow. 6-8 weeks in a sling at minimum...

And yes, I'll either get her repaired, or get something else, this will not stop either of us. We were talking about what we'd get on the ride home...

wow...turns and intersections is when u need to be on highest alert. glad it hear everyone is okay. i surprised the levers didn't break. usually that is the 1st thing that break when a bike goes down. but repairing it back to forum is a pain. i wreaked a fzr600 once and it was nearly 2000 to do fairing and engine work and that was just a one sided crash

Marine! The Gen 6 VFR is not equiped for Airborne Operations, Mountainerring, Slingloading, small arms fire resistant nor is it a approved floatation device. With that covered, glad you are both still with us to bitch about it.

For sure. Could have been absolutely nasty for the two of you and I am sure gald you are in the position to tell us your story. But I gotta ask. What did your wife, or your daughter's mother have to say about this. I can only tremble as I imagine.

Well, my wife of 16 years and mother of that daughter is sitting right here, so here's a direct quote:
"I'm thankful the injuries were not worse then they were, and I can't wait until we get a new bike!"

Damn, am I a LUCKY man or what?

Mine owuld have said something like, " I told ya!" even though she didn't.

And I would say "Yes Dear...you are right", then gone out and bought another bike. Mine is a wonderful woman too. But she refuses to ride with me.

Riding as a passenger is VERy scary!!! If you don't believe me try it sometime.
    You have no control.

Those sportbikes have that tail sticking way up and it puts the passenger way up HIGH and makes the center of gravity outrageously high. I don't like that.

Corner, rocks, trees, embankment... all could have been so much worse. Glad you and your daughter are okay.

Age isn't the real determining factor in Ohio. According to BMV, the child has to be tall enough to be able to have their feet solidly on the foot pegs. That's all.

Sounds like my daughters, 16 & 18. The oldest and I are going to look at a 86 Yam Radian 600 for her today. Another project bike for dad. She wont be helping on this one. Goes up to the Hotel Sunday, enters active duty Army Monday. She wants the bike done by the time she gets a duty station.

Glad to hear you're both alright and able to ride again. Yes you're a lucky man, my wife and I just had a "discussion" this morning about our boys riding on something with two wheels and a motor and I lost :( But I have a little time yet before they are ready to ride.

the wings on the side are painted on, you know that right?? kidding, glad to hear we arent mourning more than a "equipment failure" - read some parts necessary - 6-8wks in sling, not so bad its the 6 to 8 years of random "phantom" pains that get to me, hope you get back at to soon
