not sure when you bought your 2008, but if you have a good relationship with your dealer, maybe he will cut you a break on having the shop look at it. It all hinges on convincing him that it has done it since new and having him believe you. If parts are required and you are out of warranty then you would likely be SOL because Honda won't reimburse the parts and the stealer will be left flying a kite. But there's always a chance the local guy will help you out on the labor. This is why you price shop on the internet and purchase from your local shop. relationships with real people are key

I agree and those relationships need to have CLEAR written agreements. Then there is no resentments.

I took the carbon canister off and plugged up the two lines going to the carbon canister-now I get a hissing sound when I open the gas tank to put fuel in-is this a problem? I wonder if water could get in though those open lines? U would have to be carefull filling gas with the lines going to the canister plugged up-or should I just unplug the lines again? My 02 R6 yahama had no canister on it, but had two lines :bull_head:just hanging there to vent the tank and for gas over flow!

I would not run the bike if vacuum is building in the tank. You risk damage to the fuel pump. One line that you plugged is a vent and needs to vent. The other needs to be plugged. If you have a manual it will be easy to see which one is which. You could always put the canister back on as it does have a purpose as outlined above.
