Riding around my little podunk town just to clear the cobbwebs - hadn't been on the bike for almost two damned weeks. Hit the bypass, dicing with traffic, big rigs, cagers on a mission ... Everything clear and bright in the sunshine, blue sky ... bike just humming along - perfect. I swear I was thinking "Credit card ? Check. Cash in mah pocket ? Check. Why the hell not ?" Just effing go, leave, not tell anybody, could be two states away by midnight.

I swear, one of these days, I am gone . Nothing but me and the bike and what I'm wearing/ carrying in my pockets.

There were times when I was commuting on my bike, that I would hop on it in the morning and it took all I could muster to not take off. Cool, sunny morning and ACH or Malibu calling me. Now that I have done a road trip from Moorpark to Nashville, it is a bug that eats at you. Wanderlust. It is an addiction, one you'll never be rid of.

Been on two of those rides in the last few years. I downloaded my map from my Garmin and printed it off. Looked like a spider web. Five weeks and something like 8,000 miles through Washington, Oregon, and California, mostly California. Then last year it was 3 weeks and 5K miles, BC, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebrask, Wyoming, SOuth and North Dakota, (might have been in Montana too cause honestly, I was lost). Then up into Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and back home to west coast of BC.

Hope to do even a bigger, longer and three month or so trip maybe next year.

Go do it man! You will smile into eternity.

This is why I go to Walmart. The greeters smile back most of the time. This Eternity dude doing that is iffy.
