Ok, got it all back together and it fired right up. So while she was running I checked the stator voltage at idol, all 3 were at 13.xx volts, brought it up to 3000 rpm and rechecked and one was at 13, and two were at 8.xx. I checked the voltage across the battery and it was 14.xx across all rpm's. So I'm guessing bad stator, am I right?

stator output voltage is AC; RR output voltage is DC. Check the RR output voltage first--if it is okay then the stator is likely working okay also.

But to check the stator voltge requires disconnecting it from the RR and using AC voltmeter setting and measure phase-to-phase, a-b, b-c, a-c. Might see 20 v AC at idle and 50 volts AC at 5k rpm.

OK I'm a nerd. I checked the voltage where the 3 yellow wires connect at the bracket. I was getting 13.xx volts there at idol. I didn't disconnect the r/r from the harness. So looks like I'm all good, I hope.
