Somebody told that sap that they'd never seen one, so he picked a number and decided to give it a go. Ya never know. One of 'em is born every minute...

You are kidding, right? This bike has history and there are collectors out there. I think you will find a wide range of value depending on the individual because of this. I've had my 750 for 10 years now and I have probably about $4K into it. I know that I could never get that out of it, but I'm one of those on the high end where I don't care about the price if it is a near perfect specimen. Don't ask this same question for the 500 because it would make you sick what I've got into mine.

The worth of the bike is what the buyer is willing to pay.... now if there was a 2nd gen supercharged 750 now that would be a rarity....

I think what has been missed in this is that those of us in this thread represent the prospective buyer/owner of said "rare" bike and we are a VERY small part of the riding world. I would say the very best of the riding world .....my two cent's.....but if you are a current owner you have a basic knowledge of what a gen 2 is worth.

there is always a way to get the title..... depends on where you want to take the bike and how much you want to pay for it..

yeah i couldnt fork out the money for i live in il. and they purge their system occasionally removing inactive titles and my friend who i got the bike from lost his copy the bike sat for 11 years in his garage until i bought it .too much hassle to get it liscensed and i did not want a salvage title so away to the wind went the parts all to good homes to make other bikes whole again i guess i did my civic duty right?

That's a really nice bike and quite frankley far superior to a stocker. I find it hard to believe that with the right UPGRADES, ones that address the bikes real short comings, wouldn't bring a premium. Ride any 86 700 or 750 with a simple wheel conversion back to back with a stocker and you will become a believer. It's like jumping from 1986 to 1996. Yes, there are still some stock low mileage 86 VFR's out there, and for good reason.

toe made a good point a few posts ago. a LOT of people tend to be scared away from nice purchases due to title problems or lost titles. honestly, I have found that replacing a lost title is a lot easier (and cheaper) than most people think. im sure laws vary from state to state, but in texas, there are just a few hoops to jump through and some paperwork to fill out and before you know it, you have whats called a "bonded title" for 3 yrs, and after the 3 yrs, the bonded flag drops off. hell, a bonded title is still 100% negotiable in texas too, so its really no big deal at all.

I have friends in Oregon that have helped me side step California bullshit as Oregon is VERY forgiving on past registration, emission's, and general purpose registration problems.
