Hey guys, thanks for all the great resources and opinions. It's interesting to learn carb sync could potentially cause the cam chain to bounce around.

FYI, Billy's Out Back is still operating for parts at the moment. They have a facebook page and accept calls and emails, however their site is down. Based on some reading, this seems like the best place to go for carb rebuild kits.

I have 56BAWD stamped on my carbs. Alex Carr, my my contact at Billy's informed me that he doesn't have the spec sheet for these carbs likely due to it being a Canadian model. He has asked me to double check the jet sizes and the numbers stamped on the metering needles so that he can figure it out. I was really hoping to do this in one shot, but it sounds like I will need to disassemble the carbs and wait for parts. Does anyone have any information on these carbs? It sounds like there were a few variations of the VF500F carbs.

Having the mind set that this won't get done in one night is the correct mind set. Set up a dedicated work space where kids, cats, spouses won't disturb them so you can leave them in an "exploded" view and come back as needed.

Yes a few variations. Early 32mm were vented thru the plenum and the jetting was richer to compensate. Approx '85 they vented them normally to atmosphere and the jetting changed again (leaner). 86 were smaller 30mm vented to atmosphere. I put 85 carbs on my 86 Race Bike when I built it.

Get the carbs out and the jets and needles out, don't "split" them yet, and document what you have and maintain the relationship to each carb. Sometimes the emulsion tubes were different front to back, as well as main jetting.

It's been a hot minute since I've been elbows deep in my 500s, so this is from memory, but the basic info and advice is sound.

I was thinking Captain Morgan. Or Cap'n Crunch.

Much rather have Cap'n Crunch as long as it is with Crunch Berries. Gotta have Crunch Berries to help destroy the roof of your mouth.

Well, I'm going to pause for a second and clean up my garage so I don't lose something taking this thing apart.
