Changed some things up on this one so they weren't the same. Rearsets powder coated to match frame/forks/swingarm/upper triple clamp. Side panels color matched. Eliminated the rear fender. F2 clip-ons. Of course the wheel color. Full Sudco 4-1 (Bought the last 2 Sudco had - Still have one for my CB-1. Mine is sporting stock headers to a 600F2 Yoshimura slip-on right now.)

    Here are mine.
Originally they were polished outer, with clear burgundy centres the same as the tank sticker on a 2001 red.
Rear had a buckle when I hit a massive pot hole, so I replaced it with a 2002 rear.
Tried to match a new paint job on the front, but turned out slightly different.
It is a much warmer grey then the rear.

    1989 I think.
The current ones have slightly different head lights.

Have you seen a red VFR with the VFR-yellow wheels? RVFR can you mock up such a photo?

Seeing some of those with a similar yellow I am rethinking, that the yellow might make the whole bike look more toyish and was a bad idea. I'll go back to work now.

This is Dupont Imron that was done 7 years ago. A pint of matching red, with hardner, was about $95 back then.
Not long ago I decided to paint my FZ-09 wheels and discovered that Imron is now super hard to find and even more expensive so I haven't decided on Plan B.

I've had some bits sprayed with Imron over the years... Fucking love that paint. Great application and very durable.

That's hard to believe that Powder coating had anything to do with that kind of damage. As many wheels that are painted using this technic if it was an issue DOT would be all over it. I'm pretty sure it's just one of those weird things that just happen, but good to know anyway, one never knows for sure so double check anyone's work. On a different subject, have you seen SSSA failures, pretty crazy to think they can break in half, but they do from time to time. just saying shit happens.

Probably corroded terminals, bad starter valves or a government conspiracy.

The pic of that cracked wheel is pretty punk to make a determination of that magnitude.

My initial thought from my very brief look at the picture was that the powdercoat cracked from flex. I honestly didn't read far enough to see if they had actually removed the powder coat and inspected further.

I had a friend who powder coated his 1000R Comstars. They looked great. Little while down the road we were trying to chase down a very weird creeking sound. Couldn't figure it out. It would do it when you would put it on the side stand for instance. Went thru suspension, steering, etc. Turned out it was the powdercoat. At every place where the struts are bolted to the rim, the coating had a tiny crack, and it was making a little "creek" when it barely flexed.

Thanks, talk a about a mission of trial and error, good thing the guy behind the gun knows what's going on, and is almost having fun. Now I'm looking at a black bronze. and no, there's' no wheels with this color, so I have no teaser photo. Sorry ;)

Update, still going over color selections since the Black ice doesn't look possible it's now on to something like maybe one of these, maybe. There is a white red pearl that's absolutely sweet, but doesn't photograph well enough to see the pop then there's the white wheel thing as IMO is almost over done. so.. it's a slight maybe in considering. But these bronze versions are pretty nice. DSCF0545.jpg

Between middle one or right one on the wheel, since your apparently leaning towards the the bronze direction IMO...

Yea I'm leaning a little towards that one too, The one I'm holding is the same as the one just right of the spoke, it was just the light wasn't showing it like I saw it, why I held that one up has a green hue to it which at first thought told me it that might make for a nice contrast, now next to the bike it's meh.... but the one in the middle of the 3 lighter shades has a red hue, so it's maybe, an added note here, as i was writing this up the guy called and has another lead that might have what it takes to make that black ice look :)
