Yea... 86/87 700/750 around 430 dry weight isn't bad, I went from my CBR1000F 560 lb dry to the Blackbird at 490, when I get off the XX the VFR feels lite. My E model DRZ400 is the lightest DRZ at 260 dry and it's a blast around town even with knobbies but it sure sucks on the road, a 100 mile ride is like doing the ironbutt 1000.

Link below has Toes run down on what is needed. I can tell you it's not going to be a huge increase in weight and seeing it in person is....... how should I say it.... You will save more weight with modern wheels and tires than would be added with the swinger. This WILL hit my ride someday when I get my head out of my ass and start putting my money where my mouth is.

PS: Hope it was cool to grab your pics Toe.

Those mirrors aren't stock, are they? Where did you find them? I've tried looking for replacements for a while, but haven't come up with anything. The stalks on mine are split and there are some scuffs as well...

    Hi capt
Maybe that is how I could make my VFR seem light, get a Harley. :) I have had a CBX, Vmax and FZR1000 all of them were porky compared to the VFR

I like your dual sport. As I have gotten older I would rather ride my lighter machines XT500, SR500 and hopefully in the future my originally purchased new but unrestored 1975 RD350 and 1983 RZ350. Everything is a compromise, all have their lumps. The VFR has a nice powerband but is a relative tank. Guess I am glad that my road bike is a "new" 25 year old bike and not one of my other vintage machines.

that shouldnt be too hard...the job market is growing, the state economy is far more stable than cali, and the cost of living here is 1/3 to 1/2 that of cali. (that, and come on....all the cool kids are doin it!)

The lighter more hp E model DRZ400 is decent, with a few mods I hit 91mph off road on GPS. I rode the big Honda thumpers for the last 25 years, all were 100% reliable, I just got tired of kick starting them after a long ride. The Estart Honda's are too heavy and the CRF450X was what I was going to get and make it street legal when I sold my XR650R but the moto 450s are hi strung and maint would be too much for the amount of on and off road riding I do. I hope the Suzi is as good as all the XRs I had...time will tell.
The RD and RZ are cool, my last 2 stroke didn't handle like a RD/RZ it was a modded Kaw 750 H2, I love 2 smokes but we have emmisions testing here or I might have street legalized the beast...a CR500, the cops aren't fond of wheelies here I found out, I got a exibition of speed ticket on the XR650R.

ok since nobody else has asked, ive just got to.....when might somebody come up with a concept/idea for a 2nd gen VFRW patch/decal? I would throw something together, but I'm not creative at all, and don't want to be laughed at for the kind of art I'd produce (hell, to me, a stick figure is really accomplishing something!)

    anybody have any ideas?

That engine cutaway is pretty 'busy' for a logo, although a creative person might be able to use the basic form. I'm not that person...

Yeah... I never intended for it to be used in it's entirety as a focalpoint (like the 6thGen one is...) for that exact reason. I kinda figured someone could clean it up for use as a background. I printed out the fullsize image, and have started tracing out the major components, but I've just been too busy working on this f'n chrysler to make any real progress.
