Bubba, I prefer your Victory Red to the Candy Red - it just seems to fit the style of the 8th gen better imo. The Candy Red reminds me of my old '98 Cobra in Laser Red - the only red vehicle I ever owned - it looked just like the one in top pic. I liked it but I always wished I had the '97 Cobra instead which came in the brighter nonmetallic Rio Red instead (see bottom pic). The Rio Red looked a lot like the 8th gens Victory Red and just seemed more of a sporty looking color to me whereas the darker metallic laser red was a more luxurious looking color to my eye like the 07 VFR's Candy Red imo. So what I'm trying to say is I'd leave it just the way it is - but it's up to you obviously!

Read the subtitles, that's what they're for.

Meh. I have enough trouble being seen on my red bike. Don't think I'd want one that looks just like the road I'm riding on.

That's the one thing I miss the most about my 07...the paint. I got compliments on the color every single time I rode it. On every group ride, more people would gather around my bike than any other. So, Greg, it appears you're in the minority in liking the plain bright red over a nice candy. But I bet you love your pearl white over a plain arctic white...it's all relative.

I knew something didn't look quite right on the 2017. I agree the silver frame is much better looking. I pick up my new 2014 red deluxe one week from today. She will join my matte grey metallic CB1000R and black CTX1300 to round out the stable.

I just looked on Cycletrader.com and within a 400 mile radius, the cheapest 2014 VFR Deluxe is $11, 499, for a white 2015

Yeah I must be weird cuz IIRC most people also preferred the Laser Red over the Rio Red on the old Mustangs as well. I remember an old forum thread where a guy was repainting his car and asked for opinions on which red to use and it was almost unanimous to go with the Laser over the Rio. I did get tons of compliments with my Laser Cobra!

Just ran the same 400 mile search for Orlando for new 8th gens and here's what I found:
    30 total (23 red, 7 white)
Cheapest red base $7,999 in Fort Pierce
Cheapest white base $9,299 in Tampa
Cheapest red deluxe $9,299 in both Conyers and Lawrenceville GA
Cheapest white deluxe "request price" (there's only 1) in Pensacola

Of course, without knowing the OTD prices with the various junk fees these numbers are kind of meaningless, but it seems like they are much cheaper in Fla than Cali.
I could waste an entire day surfing around on CycleTrader :glee:

Someone already said this and so did I, the VFR1200 red is spot on! I came into the shop here locally and they had a used one. As soon as I saw that color I was instantly looking at VFR's. It was a 2010 and I was hoping that Honda still had that color and the 1200 in later model years. They switched to black in the last model year and most where automatics. Sad that such a great color was not used again for the 800.

Shinigami posted this link on the other forum to the Japanese Honda website which has some nice pics of the '17, link:

    http://www.honda.co.jp/VFR800F/

According to the website it looks like the lucky bastards in Japan have a choice of all 4 colors: white, red, black, and silver.

This page on same site says 8th gen has "hyper vtec" :glee: Link: http://www.honda.co.jp/VFR800F/performance/

This is the best video I've seen so far of the new '17 model. You get good views of all the changes including the new exhaust, the power socket on the left side of fairing, the black frame and silver forks.

Great video of the new VFR, I sure like the look of the triple clamps and wheels
I know I am old school but if they had that bike in a true Honda candy apple red and white rims
I think they would have a winner
I am not so hot on there not being a seat cowling, perhaps it is like the 1990 VFR and it is an option
I wonder what it would look like with left sided exhaust can, the final touch that sends it to the top of the wish list I bet

I look out my side window and see the same bike, except the cosmetic changes. Seat cowl comes with bike and is an owners preference. Mine is on with handles removed. They did change the muffler too, now has two holes and slightly different shape.

On the 8th gen, the cowl replaces the passenger seat. Works great, as it provides a lot more storage space. I have a tailbag permanently attached to my seat, so I can run the cowl most of the time, but switch to the seat when I need the tailbag for more space. It's actually one of the biggest improvements over the 6th gen's single seat/poor storage arrangement (not to mention the integrated saddlebag mounts).

Hmmm...did they change the heated grip light/switch for the '17 from red to green? Just used the heated grips on way home tonight (it was 63 which is freezing for me :glee: ) and my '14 definitely has a red light that comes on. But on the Japanese website for the '17 they have a pic with a green light and the switch looks a bit different I think.
