Probably be a sport bike. Only other kind of bikes he has are vintage. I think his old tricked out 929 would be fun. I can do a few hundred miles on it with no problem. Over that it gets old.

If you're coming down from Sand City, the direct route down highway 101 will take about 1.5 to 2 hours to Reg's depending on how fast you ride and how many breaks you take. However, if you want to take the scenic route down Highway 1 on the coast, it'll take you 2.5-3.5 hours to do about 15 extra miles, but well worth it in my opinion.

    Both are about 120-130ish miles.

And we do about 150-250 miles on the Saturday ride, depending on peoples route preference.

Thanks. I have been up and down 1 a few times, beautiful ride. I like slow lazy rides with beautiful scenery and lots of stops. If I'm slabbing it I'm usually hauling as fast as I feel safe. (mostly from getting a ticket) lol

This takes about 4-5 hours or all day depending on whether things start falling off your bike or you run out of gas...

If you're coming down from San Francisco and traveling Friday morning I could show you the way. I travel with a tire patch kit...

I know the feeling. I'm thinking about investing in a trailer so I can tow my whole garage with me every time I go R3. I don't have the best track record down there...

You planning on heading down there? How many miles? Don't know where it is at.

I would like to go down this year but I have resigned myself to getting down there every second year. For me it is 1130 miles each way if I go directly there and directly back. Haven't quite done that in my last two trips. Got sidetracked either on the way to, or on the way back from.

Not exactly sure where in the PNW you live but Seattle to Atascadero is 1000 miles. The 1000 miles in a day is some hard riding but is doable. Otherwise break it down to one or even two stops for a very leisurely ride down.

Next trip for me will likely be 2016 if there is one then. Going to make a third attempt at the Border to Border Iron Butt challenge. Then I am hoping to travel on to Key west, up the east coast and across Canada after.

Wonder if my wife will still be at home when I get back.

BTW. It is held in Reggies Roadhouse Resort in Atascadero California, just a couple blocks off the 101.

Look up Atascadro, Ca. and the intersection of the 101 Freeway and Highway 41. That's literally a few blocks from the hosted event location.

Who in the hell would want to spend a weekend in some stranger's back yard and ride motorcycles and eat BBQ and drink beer with a bunch of VFR riders?

    LAME.

Yea that's about right $100-$150 is what it cost me. Though you may want to check with others like Drewl and see what the average highway certificates cost. You'd have to factor those in. hahahaha

Grey thanks that seems to be about the costs, bit of breakfast $10, $15 for some lunch, $20+ for dinner, $40+ for fuel, $40/$60 to stay in a pub for the night, and maybe 4 beers before bed $20 so it all adds up.

How about a ride-in sight seeing option for us old, beat-up farts?

One group could ride like we usually do, and the other group could go to the beach or SLO or something?
