I agree... If I wanted a beemer, I'd go to BMW... I want my Honda to look like a damn Honda... too much touring influence here I think... just screams "old guy" to me...

I couldn't agree more! The pic shown at the top of this post is most definitely a Photoshop! Leftlane nailed the real bike in the spy shots and I love it! I'll be ordering mine as soon as it's available............!!

Theoretically there are going to be TWO new V4's from Honda, the "Sport" version captured in the pics from various outlets/posts, and the pic above which was a "filled in" version of design sketches of the new "Pan European" or "T" model. So, theoretically you should be able to get either or...

We'll see when the site I posted (http://vfrworld.com/forums/anything-goes/24673-new-v4-site-updated.html) adds more content...

I really like the BMW HP2 Sport, with the exception of the price tag. It's a really good looking bike that holds it's own on the track really well! I will go out on a limb and say that I am in the minority of guys that do track time on their VFR, and wish that Honda would make a return to the racing heritage that the VFR came from. I know, not everyone wnats this, and that's why I said I'm in the minority here. I also don't believe that Honda will go that way either, to cater to a really small niche market, it's not practical, although I do elieve that it would generate sales on the fact that it wouldn't be your typical I-4 sportbike. Only time will tell, until then, I will continue to morph my 4th Gen into the VFR that I believe Honda should have made...

    Crusty,

I'm waiting for the new "Interceptor." I have a Beemer already. Bought this one brand new in 79. Kind of changed it up a bit since. The pic isn't current since then I added a couple of Delorto 40's then changed those up for Mikuni Flatslides and last, a Luftmeister 2:1

Engine is blueprinted, statically and dynamically balanced, solid state ignition, 30,000 volt coils, Nikasil barrels, Anti dive kit and progressive springs in front, Koni's in the rear,
Luftmeister 3 paw clutch and a chopped flywheel. The heads are Krauser 4 valve, rendering a hemispherical combustion chamber and a much improved breathing. The pistons match and are short skirt type. Seat you see there is by Rich's in Seattle, some minor tweaking like BMW K75 bars for a little higher rise, a filled cowl and one of my paint jobs. The head were modified some including changing the geometry, microwelding the push rod mushrooms and overall refinement by some porting and further polishing. Pretty good raise in compression ratio.. I think stock was about 8:1. Now it's over 11:1.

    Cranks out 90 horsepower.

Not as reliable as a stocker but it sure is fun to ride.

    Rich's Custom Seat Gallery

Rich also did the seats on my 91 VFR and my 78 Yamaha SR500 now a SR540 (90mm piston)

BMWs are good machines. They have been building bikes since 1923 and the basic boxer engine began as an aircraft design. The inline engines are related to BMWs car engines.

The SR's were not all that popular here. They sold like crazy in Europe and UK and especially Japan. There was as I understand a near riot in Japan over sales of a 25th Anniversary model. Tons of aftermarket stuff for them. Mine is punched out and has some headwork done. Bigger (36mm) carb and a complete exhaust changeup. The 78
s had disc binders at both ends. Brand new out the door, $1425.00.

    Those days are long gone..

If the pic at the beginning of this thread is what the bike actually ends up like, it seems unbalanced to me. the front is just too wide for a bike with a narrow rear end like that. they'll have to trim it out like the new concourse to balance it out...

I know the BMW are great bikes..just not for me:biggrin:

although I have yet to ride one....

if the CHP can use them and the guys stay on them for hours a day with no problems.....then it passed .... but still not a bike for me...

Washington State Patrol uses them too. A friend of mine does the work on the cop bikes. He rides a Commando and has an MV Agusta. A few years back the Seattle PD bought a few K75's to replace the Kawasaki Police bikes. The dealer got greedy on the maintenence contracts and lost not only that but the sale of probably 30 bikes.

With so many models and never having ridden even one I am at a loss to figure out why it might not be a bike for you.

What did you ride when you were a LEO?
