My nearest close call was with a really impressive x-point buck up in Harriman Park... it came flying out of the underbrush like six feet in front of me and disappeared into the underbrush on the other side of the road, all in about a 10th of a second.

Unlike most pedestrians this sucker was really pointy. This happened at night and was over so fast it's almost as though I'd imagined it.

What was that sunk in the mud in your avatar, anyway? I took a perfectly good VW Beetle and turned it into a dune buggy when I was in high school, and that mud looks very familiar.

Well, I picked up my bike, and promptly dropped it off at a friends house rather than ride back into the city. The previous owner never went around corners... the tires were square. So square that I had to wrestle with it to make it turn.

Runs great going straight, though :)

New tires and then I'll take another shot (it was obvious it needed tires but I wasn't quite prepared for this sort of behavior, probably because a) the rear tire is about triple the size of any bike I've ridden and b) I haven't ridden a bike in well over 25 years... it does take a little getting used to.
