Group of my friends, 8 entries. I knew I likely wasn't going to win with a traditional chili. It had to be something unique. There weren't any region or style restrictions. Impressed the crowd with my Verde Chili with Dungeness Crab. Tomatillo base with jalapenos, poblano, chili peppers, white beans, green onion, lime, onion, garlic. Exact recipe and other spices/ingredients are proprietary. Oh, and a VERY generous amount of Puget Sound Dungeness Crab meat in the chili. Didn't skimp at all. It had to be the star of the show. A little sprinkle of fresh white onion, jalapeno and green onion and a nice, big, whole leg section chunk on top when I served the judges. Bam! There were a couple of very serious chilis in the competition. I thought mine was the best but I didn't think I'd win because it wasn't traditional. Well, it was really unique and really good apparently.
