1995 VFR750 - Odometer not working but speedo is fine

Hello, hope everyone is doing well!

I recently bought a VFR750FS, it shows 41k on the odometer. The bike sounds great, handles great and looks great. On the trip home the odometer budge at all, but the speedo is displaying the speed correctly.

I called the previous owner and he told me that a part was missing, that it had broke recently but was expensive new OEM so he was still trying to get an hold on a used one, and that he would still try and get it for me.

My question is, I looked for the sensor online and it seems that there's only one speed sensor and I just identified it connected into the left side of my bike's engine.

Does anybody have a word regarding this subject?

 

the odo is driven from the speedo, so if the speedo works and the odo does not.........odo is defunct.

 

Thats what I expected, just hoped I was wrong...
