I am using the stock radiator and I did fabricate new upper radiator brackets to pull the top back a little. Now, I also pulled the fan off the radiator so I have a little more room to work with.

If you use the 929 triples, you will lose the some turning radias. I drilled out the steering locks and drilled them out for adjustable steering locks.

    Nice project. Interesting stuff.

I recognize that track. Considering a track day there myself.

If you want to do a track day, especially if it is your first. Consider riding with fishtailridingschool.com. I will disclose that I am associated with the group but putting that aside if you are just starting out we run a very organized session for beginners. We do cost a little more but we are different.

Interesting. May I ask why your group is better? I've honestly barely even heard of fishtail.

I am a total track-day noob. Took some goading for me to even think that I may possibly, by some stretch of the imagination, belong anywhere near a track. Also note I am not a sport biker; I ride a smaller adventure bike. I am a street rider first and foremost; I have no racing aspirations. I think VFRs are pretty high performance stuff.

I have met and am somewhat familiar with some of the Boston Moto guys. Quite frankly, they were gonna get my money because of that relationship.

Please note, I did not say we were better  we are a little different then others. I believe all the other schools are good and have unique offerings.

    - Our focus is about learning the track, learning the skills to be safe, smooth and the instructors will work with you through out the day.
    - The owners only allow about 70 riders per day so that means; more 1:1 time with instructors, time on the track is less congested and later in the day you can often find open track to work on your skills individually. This is part of the reason why it is more expensive.
    - Instructors will often shift students between groups to get riders of similar abilities grouped together on the fly.
    - If you think your riding independently working on your skills, it is not uncommon for an instructor to come up next you and work with you and then cut you loose again. You are never out there without someone helping if you want it.
    - The instructors have been doing this for many, many years and will get you confident on the track quickly.
    - The team that makes up Fishtail are all taking time off from their regular jobs to be there because they are passionate about riding, being safe and enjoy instructing.

Again, if your just starting, I think Fishtail is a great place to start (I did), build your skills and then you will be ready to go and ride with any track day group. I won't say Fishtail is better, each group has something to offer but I will say, once you do a track day, you will be back.

The choice is yours and if you are a new track day rider, the hardest part is the first session on the track. Then it is fun, fun, fun.
