    Fronts are six spoke, on VFR/CBR, 1990/91 to 1997/98. 3.5" x 17. Speedo drive only on 1991 to 1993 CBR600F2.

Rear: 1990 - 1993, eight spoke. That is the desirable one. 5.5" width. And is surprisingly "light" for how much wheel is there. Great design.

1994 - 1997, five spoke. 5.0" width. Polarizing design. They don't bother me like most people. "Why did they do that?" It was designed to mimic the NR750, much like the styling cues of the whole bike. And why go down to 5.0 from 5.5? Most likely because the test riders preferred it to the 5.5, probably made the bike feel livelier due to how it changed the profile of the 170/60-17 tire. I actually sought one out for one of my Hawks that I had the spindle modded to accept VFR wheels. I did not want a 5.5" rim, as I wanted to run a 160/60-17 rear tire. 5.5" you have to (should) run at least a 170 on that rim.

    PXL_20240731_181006205.jpg

And I actually really like a 170/60-17 tire on the 5.5" rim, but they are usually really expensive right now.

The 1995 VFR will probably get a 180/55-17 tire when I swap the rims. I have A LOT of rear ride height dialed into that bike and a little bit of a "shorter" side wall tire will be fine. Plus it will be considerably cheaper (and more readily available).

Cool! thanx for the lesson!! I am having REAL trouble finding 150/60/18 for the little CBR!!!
Hard to find a matched set 120/60/17 on the front? You can go with 160/60/18 but I don't really want to "pinch" it into the rear wheel and change the profile??

it looks to be 5.5, I am confused there because what I am reading says 3.5?
still don't want to alter the profile, supposed to be 150 60
    ...and yes it IS 18"!

Really? 5.5"? Wow. Was not expecting that on a CBR400RR.

    You can easily go 160.

I would be looking to put a CBR600F3 rear wheel on that bike. 5.0 x 17.

Let's move over to your thread. Not because I care really, but because there could be a fair amount of discussion. I'm already getting good hits on this conversion.

I love the looks of that 8 spoke, but I'm in the minority on what I think that it looks good/bad on.

If more spokes is better...and you get "all of the spokes"...doesn't that get you to one giant spoke?

4.5" x 18" is what i get for a J and K model. I believe it takes the same rear tire as the VFR400r, which I bought the Shinko Podium. They have matching sets of shinkos I believe.
    Later model is 4.5" x 17"

"If I have to tell you what you did... just forget it."

How many times have you heard that?

JFC! Pirellis are stiff AF. I knew that, I just did some... but godammit, I am quickly reminded. Hanging in front the heater as I type.

Michelins... that I also love... I can almost mount just giving them a stern look. So nice. I just did some Power 5, and they are so nice.
