@straycat ... you are sick. So is Cap... anyone with more than 2 bikes is sick... But it's a good sick. The kind of sick that all of us benefit from. Keep us the good fight keeping these great bikes running and lookin' good.

Whenever I take out my "old dinosaur's" I'm usually the only guy at the biker hangouts with "vintage" 80's bikes. We all ride and don't hide our Superbikes and that is how it is supposed to be.... got dammit!

I really like them all!! Wanted to see the vision out and I knew that wheel and floating rotors was the end game. I had the parts to get it rideable after spending money on other stuff (rear wheel and tire, YSS shock, front forks, springs, masters, etc). The CBR wheel I just took off I got free and it had a good tire that I used for a couple seasons. And I had some nice solid rotors from a VFR wheel I bought. I was waiting on the fork caps until a set fell into my lap.

Amen to that one 6. Riding these old superbikes/sportbikes IS the joy. I am in between theories. Buy low, get running, make money, but also experience what each bike has to offer and keep the ones that keep me stoked. With the goal of getting to the next level bikes I always wanted. I have checked off more bikes in 3 years than in the rest of my life combined. I can't even imagine what beasts lay in various forum members' garages. I wonder how many crazy versions of bikes we have collected that you would never see on the street and most don't know to exist. Keep it up Capt!

I cannot confirm or deny the presence of an NSR250. That is all.

Up on the lift and shed some clothing...

    PXL_20240630_195012760[1].jpg

Valve covers started leaking and I had not been in there yet. So, start removing shit to get access. Ugh. At least I already had all of the radiators off and restored just a couple years ago, so it should come apart pretty easily. The other thing I hope to accomplish is to remove the exhaust collector and restore it. NOT looking forward to wrestling with that, it's been on the bike it's whole life and was ridden all-weather prior to me.

Im hoping to get my VF1000R back in the spring of 2025.

I sold it to my buddy who now has 3 of them and wants a 89/90 ZX7 in his collection. I hope to have all 3 of my ZX7's restored by spring (one done, 2 left to go).

so.... I suggested I wanted to trade one for my old VF1000R (the manly red one, not the euro Blue). he said OK...

Valves adjusted. 12 of 16 needed some love, most were just on the loose side.

I couldn't believe how easy the exhaust came off, not the usual experience. I had one stud on the front with a little corrosion that wouldn't release the collar. A little soaking and a few "shock" hits with a hard wood handle and the exhaust fell to the lift. Scared the shit out of me.

Decided to just prep and paint the whole thing, not interested in maintaining the crappy stainless front pipes.

Jetting seems to be pretty damn good.
