To add, the D&D exhaust is too loud for my tastes. I honestly think the engine would be quieter without an exhaust system on it at all, but the cost of a Yoshi or Muzzy (which I want) is just crazy. The video doesn't have good sound qaulity, but you cannot talk over the ZX at idle without yelling very loudly. I will get pulled over like this. Any ideas? Are their any drop in baffle systems? I feel like no :-/.

Thanks for the follow-up post. Two bikes in the stable then?

After all the work you have put into your VF500F - kinda hope you are going to hold on to it.

Hey invisible, I think I'm going to tear it all down and rebuild it onto a frame I have a title for. I currently have a frame with title registered, but the plates are actually on the working bike. I'm going to do that- I think- touch up the paint on the accessories as I do it, and then sell it. I know. It's going to be really hard to do, but I've got to do it. I think my next rebuild will be a gpz 750 turbo if I can get my hands on one. I want something a little more, unique? for my city tooling/vintage rides.

In other news, I was cruising around YouTube and saw this video of a ZX9R: YouTube - 1999 Kawi ZX9R

I thought to myself, "Hey, that bike looks just like my bike. Crazy." Then I saw this video: YouTube - 1999 Kawi ZX9R (2) and I said to myself "same paint chips, same knick in the speedo, same everything- what state was that plate?! Holy shit that's MY bike!!!". And it is, I have found YouTube videos of my new bikes former glory, isn't that crazy?

Things that is identical to my bike:

    - Shitty black spray job
    - dent in the frame
    - rusted bolts at the rear seat
    - exhaust + sound
    - undertail kit
    - windscreen
    - knick in the speedo
    - paint missing on speedo bracket
    - paint missing on handlebar cage
    - plate state!

I'm surprised to stumble across my bike on YouTube, and it definitely is my bike. The imperfections aren't "like" my bike's imperfections; they are identical, right down to the paint chips. SMALL WORLD!

I'm about to revive this thread in a big way. Just as soon as I can upload these images.

I decided to swap the frame in my VF500F with one that had a title. This is the progress I made in the two days I had off of work, and I'm sure I'll finish the next day I have off. I decided to blast the frame clean of rust and spray it. I used Dupli-Color BSP202 Brilliant Silver Metallic Paint Shop Finish System - 32 oz with primer and clear.

This is my first time spraying with an HVLP gun. I set it up and just went to work without any help, I think it came out perfectly. No sanding at all, and there isn't any orange peel. These two pictures exemplify the paint job best:

Well this is a nice thing to read on a Saturday morning. I had thought you had decided to sell your 500s ferraone?

Really an impressive amount of progress in two days time. You've become quite the VF500F tech over the past year!

Again great news. Please keep us posted on the progress.

I too thought you gave up on the 500. That frame looks great! Looks like you're light years away from the old front porch "shop". I'm still very impressed with how you stuck with it. What a learning tool it became. You can work on my bike any day.

I should just give my 750 to you. I don't have time to do it justice.

Hey guys, thanks! I'm really glad to see you all still on the boards and interested in my thread/VFR experience. I had a few free hours today so I finished it off! It needs a carb sync from me jostling them around so much, but other than that it is AWESOME. I've increased the idle to 2.5k to compensate for the bad sync, and it rides perfectly. Here are the rest of the pics from today, I'll get some high res ones when the lighting is better.

And my current setup is way better than the front porch workshop hahaha!

Have fun ferraone. Like hopit88 said it is just like going to a motorcycle repair school. The things that we all learn will benifit us all if we share and care. I think you are doing a great job. I do have just one suggestion. You can sometimes find a complete running motor out of a bike with no title for 250.00

I don't know how this happened. The last thread I was reading the bike was on the porch. Great job, you are very talented.

I wnet through this entire thread tonight. I am amazed at what you have done with no experience. If you sell this bike you will regret it, it is your badge of honor. Super Superj job.

This thread was a great read, right from day one. It was great to vicariously go through this process with you. Amazing stuff.

I noticed that your ad is gone. Did you have success with the sale or did you change your mind. Whatever you do, good luck to you. Based on what we saw in this thread you will do well.
