OK, "wrong" carbs could use excessive fuel, and those could maybe be gen4 carbs ? (i'm not sure they're interchangeable.)

no, i don't think that plug shows an over-rich condition as the center electrode is white. it's normal for the base ring to be dark and 1 or 2...
