I had occasion to have the clutch cover off my 5th Gen, 65k miles, and seemed like quite a bit of slack in the oil pump drive chain...... the good...
Reverse bleeding will not hurt the ABS... the fluid is bypassing through it, only when ABS is used does it go through different channel. Check...

The pulsing may be ABS kicking in.... check the wheel sensors that they are clean, not corroded, connections OK. Perhaps uneven wheel signals are...
