I guess you couldt fit a fuel pump and only use it when the fuel level gets low and won't gravity feed, sort of a second reserve, flick a switch...

Testing of coils isn't easy particularly if you think they are breaking down when they warm up, only thing you can do is get a a good known coil...

You say you have power going to the starter, you shouldn't have power to the starter unless you have the ignition on and you are pushing the start...
Buying new carbs is not the answer, have to fix the ones you have, have to find out why they are not working, are you using a fuel bottle, if not...
But did you clean every hole in the pilot jets, just soaking in carb cleaner may not be enough. With the 91 you need a test light and a multimeter...
