Stock needles are a good sign that no one has drilled your slides.
How aboot a pic or two of the slide needles?
The only real benefit would be to gain some ground clearance as they tend to scrape the ground pretty easy when cornering.
Not to be negative but you should bail oot and look for a donor engine. You will be a ton of money and time ahead when it is all set and done.

The orifice inside the pilot jet is much smaller than the opening and you will want to take a strand of wire and run through them and verify that...

It is true, gen 2 is the same.
All of the failed CDI's I have dealt with just flat oot failed, I would inspect the wiring to the suspect unit and the circuit board as well.
