just sayin......... some manuals want the float measurement done with the float bowl gasket in place, probably .5mm to 1mm difference.

very unusual to be that far off. you can try bending with heat or source a new float.
how far off are they ? use the one that sticks up highest from the carb base as reference. don't use heat. what year is the bike ? 4th gen...
the best way to keep the engine running is fresh oil, warm it up b4 riding. and keep the revs away from the top range. redlining it is a quick way...
i've b een on this website for alota years, can't remember any substitute engines put into a vf500.
