I cant speak to the difference, but I can say that some 5th gen and 6th gen guys have purchased the as3 hoses and were happy with it.
......as3performance in the UK has silicone hose kits for the 4th gen VFR750 for $89 USD.......

Check the stator to R/R connector.....(welcome to the club) Disconnect the battery if you haven't already.... Others will chime in..........
I like SF's mount method, a bolt up on the top side and then building kind of a clamp style below the lower subframe. Not bad....didn't realize...
