With my 4th gen, any moderate amount of rear brake during down shifts will give out little chirps from the rear tire. (Thats with OE pads)

Yeah. using the proper weight oil will help a bit. In the cold the oil will always be a little thicker...a 20w50 oil will be even more thick....
