fiche I looked at didn't show any collars, just the inner sleeve and bearings. Could've been on another screen along with the axle I suppose but...
the 90 didn't use collars from the looks of it. If they were necessary on your bike you wouldn't be able to ride it.
The weights are real, what the manufactures do is simply wieigh the bike to their advantage. No coolant, no water in the battery, no oil, no gas,...
87 plastics are 5lbs lighter? First I've heard of that. Can anyone verify that? removing 5lbs from 6 pieces of plastic?
I'm gonna run my 86 up to the same scale and see what it weighs w/ F2 wheels, Yosh exhaust, no center stand. I'll let you know.
I guess, although adding 4 gals of fuel to it would be at least 490lbs. I'm still using the orginal coils and a standard size battery.
Ran the bike up to a recycler that has a big scale. With a full tank of fuel (1gal=6.25lbs) the bike weighed in @ exactly 480lbs.

So would I Matt, but converting a carbed bike to fuel injection is another matter. Didn't you give that some thought at one point with your 500?
I have a tricked out 94 and would certainly recommend one of those before I go 5th or 6th gen. Why bother trying to get fuel injection to work on...
FYI, starting a bike and letting it run once a week/ once a month isn't going to keep your battery charged. It may keep your carbs from gumming up...
I'd check the starter selenoid based on the fact it wouldn't turn over. It might be goin bad.
