That's a great price for somebody on the trunk setup, I have the same trunk and love it for traveling, GLWS!
I used a light kit from these guys for a trunk on another bike, they have lots of options....
Is there a base coat you put under the bronze? In past I've had some colors that required a white base underneath which brightens them up.
