The CBR is a totally different animal compared to the 1200. Like you said the throttle is very responsive and the way it handles is lot different....
Can you change the color of the heat wrap on the exhaust pipe? The bike is so clean that it stands out..
I think the MM/YY should be on the frame.. Look on the sticker which has the VIN#. I will check mine in couple hours and will let you know exactly...

If you can remove the carbs, then it should be fairly simple to do. I did not do one on a 4 stroke bikes. I have tinkered with them on a 2stroke..

Airbox. I can not think of any other place...
The jets are inside the carbs. For the 'bigger' exhaust, you need bigger jets to account for more air/fuel mixture.
The other thought is the center stand bent?
I think you can get the month and year. I have never seen a date on the bike unless it is a high end car..

How many miles on the bike and is it the original clutch pack in the bike? How old is the clutch fluid?
