I feel ya, 6'4" 250 here. Installed peg lowering adapters & stiffened the rear spring 2 notches. Helped quite a bit.
Another suggestion: I took off the cap on the '09 and did some dremel modding on the 2 locking tabs. No more sticking.
Take caution when using engine braking cresting a hill. Lots of variables there ie. upward vector on rear tire.
