High resistance will make your flasher operate faster. Sloppy connection=more resistance. Higher wattage=more resistance.

Your carbs would have to be WAY out of sync. I would suspect an air leak. Can you hear the linkage "snap back" when you twist the throttle open?

Performance tip: Run the air on the OUTSIDE of the tire. Less unsprung weight.
If the cable actuates the slide itself, make sure the slide isn't in backwards.
