You can easily test the PAIR solenoid valve yourself. Disconnect the hose going to the solenoid from the air cleaner housing and gently blow into...

Filtrering is no fun with panniers, but it looks worse on photo than it actually is.

It could be that someone adjusted the idle while the bike was cold, and then when the wax body thingie gets warm the idle goes down way too far....

I have a rogue cable on my 2002 non-ABS bike that I don't know what its supposed to be connected to. It's a thin cable with blackish insulation...

I'll answer my own question. It's not good to pull the PAIR electrical connector, it will result in always open valves and really rich running...
