Just to the right of the chassis number (right hand beam frame, below the tank) there is a small hole may still have the original rubber bung in it. Open that up and use a small flat blade screwdriver to adjust the idle.

if you don't know, you need an owner's or service manual. lacking either you're seriously under educated.

Yes it is on the list.
Only had the bike 14 days and spent that sorting the previous owners bodges and removing dodgy wiring and accessories!
Wasnt sure if the tickover adjustment was a cable with a thumb screw and had been lost or removed .

The correct tool for adjusting the idle screw on the 5th Gen is a JIS screwdriver (looks like a Phillips Head screwdriver but it's made to the Japanese Industrial Standard specification, which means it won't damage the JIS screw-heads on a Japanese motorcycle).

An electronic copy of the 5th Gen Service Manual is available for free (it's either here on VFRWorld or over on VFRDiscussion, I can't remember which, maybe it's on both). You should get it.

Setting the idle on a 5th Gen is something you do after you do the STARTER VALVE SYNCHONIZATION, which begins on page 5-67 of the Service Manual.
