I rewound and Slo-Mo'd that at least 5 times while watching the race... WoW!
I first thought possibly the rider behind him had hit the rear wheel with some force, but I did not see evidence of that.

I guess this is one good reason to not use racing wheels on the street - they even fail on the race track some days.

I imagine the tire guys were proud of how much grip their rubber compond provided - pulled the wheel right off the spoke. And every viewer will now check their rear rim the next time they feel a funny vibration back there.

Ducati will be running an extra wheel in the Donnington WSBK race this weekend, in honor of the Japanese people suffering from the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster.
