    Hi All,
This winter I saved up and purchased my first street bike...I just wish I had come across these forums first:tongue:
Anyway I got the bike for $750 and it runs well. The previous owner told me he just sync-ed the carbs and had the tank lined so it won't rust.
The good: It runs well, and I am still a sucker for the looks of the first-gens.
The bad: Radiator leaks antifreeze, Speedo doesn't work, and I need a front fairing.

Other than that, this looks like an awesome forum and there are a lot of great bikes here.

    :welcome:

Looks Good, Even If she is missing some plastics. ( Except those Hidious black rims  )
There are several guys here that probably have the plastics you are needing.

I agree about the rims, I would like to take it back to factory as far as plastics are concerned.

IIRC...the '86 came with black wheels.

Good luck with finding a front fairing. I do agree that It needs one.

Replacing the Radiator shouldn't be a big deal. The speedo problem with be the little gear at the front wheel. Check the left side of the front wheel where it attaches to the fork. Should be a big silver round thing there. That's the speedo gear. Should be a long cable running to it aswell.

I see you don't have a rear fairing aswell. I have a red/white/blue one from my old '86. It needs repairing, but if you need one it's yours for cost of shipping.

    Good luck with the bike.

Welcome to the zoo lad, there's lots of help around here. I guess if you've already decided to take it back to stock there's no point in saying this... but really it doesn't look half bad as a 'fighter'. Would definitely be unique!

Ha, sorry I had the rear fairing off in this pic, I think the only plastics I need are the front. Thank you though!

I was kicking the idea around until I poked around these forums for a while. I am torn because I love the factory look...even though somebody moved mine in another direction before me. Thanks for the encouragement...there's always next winter!

Welcome. The nice thing about the 500 is that parts are still fairly easy to get. My vote is to restore it to the original RWB.

Okay so I detached the speedometer cable from the front wheel and there is nothing in the cable sheathing! I wonder what other surprised are in store for me.
