    so i got a 1985 vf500f mt problem is i bought the bike and the carbs needed to be cleaned.. took each carb apart one at a time thoroughly cleaned and put back together.. now the bike will barely start and when it does it runs like its on 1 or 2 cylinders.. and only runs for a minute.. will not idle.. checked all 4 plugs and wires and then seem to be sparking just fine. any ideas where to start ? i removed the little hose of the back of the petcock and on the petcock theres 2 nipples which one does the hose go on? thanks for any help

    Have you done the carb sync? Not like I am an expert :wink:
    Kenny, Squirrelman or Toe can help you on this issue. Just be patient it is weekend so might take them a while.

    Did you have the FSM nearby while you were working on carbs ??

    Can't guess from the symptoms as it could be any one of a dozen problems. Noobs are here frequently claiming they cleaned their carbs, but it's later determined they missed several items and need to do it all over again, sometimes more than once.

    Find out which nipple is right by sucking on the nipple !! :party2: One is a vent, and the other (should) pull the diaphram open so fuel flows to carbs.
