A few weeks ago there was a discussion on dyna beads. I have the beads in the front and back tires. Ive had them installed at the dealer when I got new tires. Was this supposed to be taken off during the install? I ask because I get a vibration at about 90 mph. Thanks.

I used those beads in my 35 x 15.5 super swampers the vibe is from the beads.... they dont work so hot.
yes that is the rim weight, if you dont use those please send it to me... dealers here use the stick on and I hate those.
or loose the beads and go back to the rim weights.

I will send it to you but I am going to try rideing without that on. (I beleive that was the problem with the vibration) If their is no vibration its yours (all one of them) but I may need it if the vibration gets worse. Wont be able to try it out till after the weekend as the weather is partly to mostly crappy here with a chance of ef'ing rain.

I bought Dyna Beads, but never installed them. The latest issue of MCN says they don't work so well.

Dyna Beads don't work as advertised!! I bought new tires last summer and had the beads installed by my dealer. I too had vibrations once I started approaching 80mph, above that it got worse to the point the handle bars were vibrating. I took the bike back and had the beads removed and the tires rebalanced the conventional way with wheel weights and have never looked back. There are several threads on this issue and most, not all, had similar problems with these beads. As one thread stated, them Dyna Beads be snake oil. I agree.

Yeah I know (Ive read the same posts). I got talked into them by my mechanic that I go too. I was in a hurry (I was leaving Louisiana to go to Houston that day). I had the rear tire replaced a month prior and was getting a new front. He told me about them and I kinda really didnt care as long as I got my bike back in an hour. On the way to Houston on a long very motorcycle friendly straight-away (no where for a LEO to hide) I decided to gun it. About 90 mph I got that vibration. I figured it was something about the new tires or balenceing. I dont on a regualr rideng basis go above 85 ish. I can count on 1 hand how many times Ive taken the VFR above 90 since I got the new tires. (3-4 months). My suprise was when I was lubeing the chain and checking the air in the tires when I spotted the weight. Its was so close to the valve that I cant beleive he missed it. (he is a good guy and I trust him) I didnt know with dyna beads if that was something that is needed or did he just miss it. There isn't a weight on the front tire. Im going to take it off and ride and see what happens. If it gets worse Ill go back to the weights.

Yeah, he probably missed the weight, it is a small one, especially if he was in a hurry. You may notice a change with the weight removed but I doubt it. Theoretically if the beads are working as designed they should position themselves in the unbalanced portion of the tire due to uneven centrifugal force regardless if a weight is on the rim or not, or so I've read. As I mentioned in an earlier post I didn't notice any vibration until 80mph and higher. If traffic flow allows I often go into triple digits passing long lines of trucks and cars. Once I had the tires rebalanced with wheel weights I ran the bike up to approx. 140mph without any vibration. I think the beads are primarily designed for cruisers and baggers who rarely if ever get over 80mph. In any case good luck and I hope you get this all sorted out without too much of a hassle.

Easy fix, get rid of the beads, and do it right by having your tire balanced correctly, no short cuts in doing this right, and in that lies the trick finding one that either has the machine and or knows what they are doing. LOL yep those are the wheel balance weights . ;) good luck.
