Got my bike back from the shop. Had Race Tech springs installed for my weight, new tapered steering stem bearings and heli bars.

I could not have asked for a better ride, I absolutely love the new feel of the bike. I'm sure I will now be happy with this bike for many more years.

I didn't realize how bad my stem bearing where until getting new tapered bearings. That combined with .95 fork springs and the bike feels and handles like a completely different bike. It is so much more responsive and better in the twisties.

Wish I did it as soon as I got it.

Feels even better know. The darn shop I loved so much put the helibars on backwards :( I guess they gave that part of the setup to the new guy who can't follow directions (or even look at them for that matter). They offered to switch it for free but did not offer to pay for the damage done (see below)

Idiot ground off the tab in the kill switch that keeps it from spinning and over tightening. First clue was my throttle was sticky.

I had to buy a new kill switch and that involved taking apart the front end to connect the new wires. All is good now, except i discovered a broken off bolt that holds a break line to the right side fork. Guess they probably did that too and didn't fix it. arrr.

Fix your own bike as much as possible, I don't trust many places to work on my bike. If you can do it yourself then do it!:bull_head:

Don't allow anyone (except yourself, maybe) to work on your bike unless he's sober and over 45 years old. That's just the way it is ! :worked_till_5am:

You guys are both correct. Lesson learned. The guy at Helibars said that motorcycle repair shops are notorious for putting them on backwards and they never read the directions. He is 100% right.

I am still glad they did the steering stem bearings though. That is a PITA! They did that and changed the fork springs to racetech .95 for $416 including the $115 springs.
So I don't have much room to complain.

I got .95s installed on mine along with Gen-Mar risers. I'm 185 lbs and the bike sits much more upright between the 2 upgrades. A heck of a lot less dive under braking too.

The idiots that did it at first used the incorrect length spacers (or none at all??) so the pre-load adjusters had to be cranked all the way in.

So they did it again but this time decided to leave the stem bearings way under tensioned so there was a massive knock in the front end.

I still have concerns a year later so I'm bringing it to a competent mechanic for the stem bearings and the rest of anything I plan on doing myself including putting in a relay for the heated grips instead of tapping them off the headlight.

Sorry to hear you have had mechanic issues also :chaingun:

    I also weigh 185.
Ya the bike is much stiffer up front and handles so much better.

I use to hit hard on some DFW highway potholes but now it eats them up.
It doesn't slam the front end down when you brake hard.
I can immediately go faster through twisties (I'm sure a big part of this is because my old stem bearings where notched at center)

It is the springs that should have been factory.
