    Hey there,
I've ridden for years but still struggle with suspension dynamics. Years ago (10) I was riding a buddy's 1990 VFR and noticed that it would push steer to the left easy and hold a line smoothly, but on the right I'd have to stand on the MO-FO handle bar to get it to lay over and it wouldn't stay there; let up on it at all and it would stand right up.

I got off told him there was issues, finished the trip we were on, and the bike's been in storage ever since. I'm trying to get him to dust it off for the Kootney ride but this, it's biggest issue, needs fixing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? The symptom seems very specific so I thought that someone might zero right in on it. I thought that maybe the fork hieghts are different? Nothing seems bent but maybe? The forks had been rebuilt and the shop at the time said they're fine though every time we tied his bike down the fork seals would start to leak on the RHS so I guess the tube(s) are shot? Back in the day I got alot of saddle time on this bike and as I recall it was fine and then this started, so I'm thinkin' nothing got bent but my memory could be bad, it was a long time ago. Doesn't feel like tires but maybe? Dunlop 207's as I recall.

What forks are a direct replacement for a '90 VFR...F2?? We were thinkin of just getting two used ones. I've searched a little but my PC is a slow POS.

I don't have the bike close it's at least an hour away.

Any help would be appreciated, and Many thanks.

I would look for (in order from easiest to hardest):
    - different fork preload settings
    - Bent Forks
    - Steering head too tight
    - worn headstock bearings (one of the balls could have a divot)
    - worn wheel bearings
unlikely that the for heights are different as they are "tied together" by the axle.

I would be checking the tube to make sure it isn't bent, that the chroming on the tube isn't compromised, and that the bushing is still in good shape. The leaking fork seal is the reason I would start there. I agree with Betarace (crap, the world is ending), and go ahead and perform an inspection, greasing, and readjustment of the headstock bearings. If that doesn't solve the issue, then GMD Copmutrack would be required to determine if other things aren't quite aligned where they should be.

How old are the tires and does the front tire have unever wear on it? My old 3rd Gen had a bad front tire and it literally felt like it was flat when trying to make a turn. I put a new tire on it and it made a world of difference.

I've never heard of this could you explain it?

Thanks for all the responses, it's appreciated.

Can anyone clarify what fork assys are compatable with this VFR?
